Dear God, thank you for discharging us from the law and freeing us from the burden of trying to earn our salvation through our own efforts. We have died to that which held us captive and now we serve in newness of the spirit. Help us to live by your spirit and not by the letter of the law. May we be guided by your grace and love, and may our lives be a reflection of your goodness. Amen.
Verse: But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.
Romans 7:6
This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to serve in newness of the spirit and not in oldness of the letter, as they have been discharged from the law.
