Praying from Romans 6:4. Themes: Baptism, Death, Resurrection

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before you today with a heart full of gratitude for the gift of baptism. I submit myself to you and acknowledge that through baptism, I was buried with Christ into death. I thank you for the opportunity to die to my old self and be raised up in newness of life.

I claim the promise that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so I too can walk in newness of life. I pray that you would help me to live a life that is pleasing to you, one that reflects the newness of life that I have received through baptism.

I ask that you would continue to guide me and strengthen me as I walk in this newness of life. May I always remember the significance of my baptism and the promise that it holds.

Thank you for your love and grace, and for the opportunity to be made new in Christ.

In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.

Verse: We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4

This is a Both.

The command is to “walk in newness of life” and the promise is that we will be raised from the dead just as Christ was.
