Praying from Matthew 2:18 relating to Grief, Loss, Comfort

Dear Lord,

As I come before you today, I am reminded of the verse that says, “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.” It is a reminder of the pain and sorrow that we experience in this world.

But I claim the promise that you have given us, that you will wipe away every tear from our eyes and there will be no more death, mourning, crying or pain. I trust in your promise that you will make all things new and that you will bring healing and restoration to our broken world.

Lord, I pray for those who are experiencing the pain of loss and grief. I ask that you would comfort them and give them peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray that they would know that you are with them and that you will never leave them or forsake them.

Thank you for your promise of hope and restoration. May we hold onto it tightly and trust in your goodness and faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; she wouldn’t be comforted, because they are no more.”
Matthew 2:18

This is a Promise. The verse is a prophecy from Jeremiah about the mourning of Rachel for her children who were taken into captivity. It is a promise that the people of Israel will be restored and reunited with their children.
