Dear Lord, I come before you today claiming the promise that you have given us through your word. Just as John the Baptist did not recognize you, but was told by the one who sent him to baptize in water that the one on whom the Spirit descended and remained was the one who baptizes in the Holy Spirit, I too ask that you would send your Holy Spirit upon me. I pray that your Spirit would descend upon me and remain with me, filling me with your power and your presence. I claim the promise that you have given us, that you will baptize us in your Holy Spirit, and I ask that you would do so in my life today. May your Spirit guide me, empower me, and lead me into all truth. Thank you for your promise, and for your faithfulness to fulfill it in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘ On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

This is a Promise. The verse is a statement made by John the Baptist about a promise that was given to him by the one who sent him to baptize in water. The promise is that whoever he sees the Spirit descending and remaining on is the one who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.
