Prayer based on John 1:30. Themes: Preeminence, Prophecy, Christology.

Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that you have given us through John the Baptist. You have said that after him comes a man who is preferred before him, for he was before him. I claim this promise today and ask that you would reveal this man to me. Help me to recognize him and follow him with all my heart. May I always seek your will and purpose for my life, and may I never lose sight of the greatness of your love and grace. Thank you for your faithfulness and for the promise of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Verse: This is he of whom I said, ‘ After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’
John 1:30

This is a Promise. The verse is a statement about Jesus being preferred before John the Baptist because he existed before him. There is no command given to the reader.
