Prayer based on Matthew 20:22. Themes: Suffering, Baptism, Commitment.

Dear Lord Jesus, we come before you today with humble hearts, seeking your guidance and strength. We know that we often ask for things without fully understanding the consequences or the sacrifices that may be required of us. Help us to have the courage and faith to follow you, even when the path is difficult and the challenges seem insurmountable. Give us the strength to drink from the cup that you drank from and to be baptized with the same baptism that you were baptized with. We declare that we are able, with your help and guidance, to face any trial or tribulation that comes our way. Thank you for your love and grace, and for always being there for us. In your holy name we pray, Amen.

Verse: But Jesus answered,“You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him, “We are able.”
Matthew 20:22

This is a Command. The command is for the disciples to consider whether they are able to drink the cup and be baptized with the baptism that Jesus is about to undergo.
