Prayer based on Psalms 90:10. Themes: Mortality, Pride, Sorrow

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the promise that the days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years. I claim this promise for myself and my loved ones, knowing that you have ordained the length of our days.

Help us to remember that our pride is but labor and sorrow, and that our time on this earth passes quickly. May we use our time wisely, seeking to honor you in all that we do.

As we fly away from this life, may we do so with the assurance of your love and grace. Thank you for the promise of eternal life with you, and for the hope that sustains us in this life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.
Psalms 90:10

This is a Promise. The verse is a statement about the length and difficulty of human life, and the fleeting nature of our time on earth.
