Praying from Matthew 2:6 relating to Messiah, prophecy, leadership
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before you today with a heart full of gratitude and hope, knowing that you are a faithful God who keeps your promises. As I meditate on the words spoken about Bethlehem, I am reminded of your great love for your people and your unwavering commitment to provide for us.
Lord, I claim the promise that out of Bethlehem shall come a governor who shall shepherd your people, Israel. I believe that this governor is none other than your son, Jesus Christ, who came to earth to save us from our sins and to lead us into eternal life.
I pray that you would help me to trust in your promises and to have faith that you will always provide for me. May I never forget that you are the Good Shepherd who leads us to green pastures and still waters.
Thank you for your love and your grace, and for the promise of salvation that we have in Jesus Christ. May I always seek to follow him and to live a life that honors you.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Verse: ‘ You Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a governor who shall shepherd my people, Israel.’”
Matthew 2:6
This is a Promise. The verse is a prophecy about the birthplace of Jesus, who will be a governor and shepherd for the people of Israel.
