Prayer based on Matthew 20:23. Themes: Suffering, Baptism, Humility
Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that I will indeed drink your cup and be baptized with the baptism that you were baptized with. I trust in your plan for my life and know that you have prepared a place for me at your right hand. Help me to remain faithful and obedient to your will, so that I may one day be counted among those who sit at your side. Thank you for your love and grace, and for the promise of eternal life with you. Amen.
Verse: He said to them,“You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give, but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
Matthew 20:23
This is a Promise. The verse promises that the disciples will drink from Jesus’ cup and be baptized with his baptism, but it is not up to Jesus to decide who will sit on his right or left hand.
