Praying from Matthew 20:12. Themes: Equality, Grace, Justice.

Dear Lord, I come before you today with a heart full of gratitude for your promise of equality. Just as the workers in the vineyard who worked for only one hour were made equal to those who worked all day, I claim your promise of equality in my life. Though I may feel like I have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat, I trust that you will make me equal to those who have seemingly had it easier. Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for always being faithful to your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: saying, ‘ These last have spent one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat!’
Matthew 20:12

This is a Promise. The verse is a statement made by the workers who were hired early in the day, expressing their frustration that those who were hired later in the day were paid the same amount. There is no command given to the reader in this verse.
