Dear Lord Jesus, I pray that you help me to let go of my attachment to material possessions and to be more generous towards those in need. Please give me the strength to sell what I have and to give to the poor, so that I may have treasure in heaven. I ask that you guide me on the path of following you, and that I may become more perfect in your eyes. Thank you for your love and grace. Amen.
Verse: Jesus said to him,“If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Matthew 19:21
This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to sell their possessions, give to the poor, and follow Jesus in order to achieve perfection and gain treasure in heaven.
