Praying from Matthew 16:4. Themes: Rejection, Sign, Prophet
Dear Lord,
I come before you today, seeking your guidance and wisdom. I know that there are times when I am tempted to seek after signs and wonders, hoping for a clear indication of your will for my life. But I also know that you have promised that the only sign I need is the sign of the prophet Jonah.
Help me to trust in your word and to have faith in your promises. May I not be like the evil and adulterous generation that seeks after signs, but instead, may I be like Jonah, who was obedient to your call and brought your message to the people.
Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the promise that you will always be with me, even when I cannot see the way ahead. May I always trust in your love and follow your will for my life.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Verse: An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them and departed.
Matthew 16:4
This is a Promise. The only sign that will be given to the evil and adulterous generation is the sign of the prophet Jonah.
