Dear God, help me to remember that what I eat or drink does not defile me. Instead, it is the words that come out of my mouth that can harm others and myself. Please guide me to speak with kindness, love, and compassion, and to use my words to build others up rather than tear them down. May my words reflect the goodness and grace of your love. Amen.
Verse: That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
Matthew 15:11
This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to understand that what they eat does not defile them, but what they say can defile them. Therefore, they should be careful with their words.
