Prayer based on Luke 14:10. Themes: Humility, Honor, Hospitality.
Dear Lord, help me to always remember to humble myself and take the lowest place when I am invited to a gathering. May I not seek to exalt myself or seek attention, but rather be content with where I am placed. And when the host sees fit to invite me to a higher place, may I receive it with gratitude and humility. May I always seek to honor others and bring glory to your name. Amen.
Verse: But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘ Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
Luke 14:10
This is a Command. The reader is instructed to sit in the lowest place when invited to a gathering, so that they may be honored by the host and others at the table.
