Prayer based on John 8:5. Themes: Justice, Mercy, Law
Dear God,
As I read the words, “Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. What then do you say about her?” I am reminded of the harshness and judgment that can be found in the laws of the past. But I also know that you are a God of love and mercy, and that you call us to show compassion and forgiveness to those who have sinned.
So I pray that you would help me to see others through your eyes, and to extend grace and kindness to those who may have made mistakes or fallen short of your standards. May I never be quick to judge or condemn, but always be willing to offer a helping hand and a listening ear.
Thank you for your endless love and forgiveness, and for the example of Jesus, who showed us how to love and serve others. May I follow in his footsteps and be a light in the world, shining your love and grace to all those around me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
