Prayer based on John 8:38. Themes: Fatherhood, Discipleship, Imitation.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before you humbly, submitting myself to your will and your ways. I pray that you would guide me and show me the things that I need to see in order to follow you more closely.

I claim the promise that you have given me, that I too can do the things that I have seen with my Father. I pray that you would open my eyes to see the things that you are doing in the world around me, and that you would give me the courage and strength to follow in your footsteps.

Thank you for your love and your grace, and for the promise that you have given me. I pray that I would be faithful to you in all that I do, and that I would always seek to do your will.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This is a Both. The command is to do the things which the reader has seen with their father, and the promise is that Jesus is sharing what he has seen with his Father.
