Praying from 1 John 2:16 relating to Temptation, Worldliness, Pride.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you today acknowledging that all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – does not belong to you, but to the world. I pray that you would help me to resist these temptations and instead focus on living a life that is pleasing to you. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you and to find my satisfaction in you alone. May my heart be filled with humility and gratitude, rather than pride and selfishness. Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the gift of salvation through your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name, I pray. Amen.
Verse: For all that is in the world— the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life— isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s.
1 John 2:16
This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to not be consumed by the desires of the world, such as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, but to instead focus on God.
