Praying from 1 Thessalonians 1:6 relating to Imitation, Affliction, Joy
Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that we can become imitators of you and your faithful servants. I claim this promise today and ask that you help me to receive your word even in times of affliction. May I find joy in the Holy Spirit and be strengthened to follow your example. Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the privilege of being called your child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Verse: You became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

This is a Promise. The verse is describing the joy that comes from receiving the word of God despite affliction.
