Dear Yahweh,

I come before you today with a heavy heart, asking how long will you be angry with me? Will your jealousy burn like fire forever? But I know that you are a God of promises, and your love endures forever. I claim the promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me, and that your mercies are new every morning. Help me to trust in your unfailing love and to seek your face in all things. May your peace that surpasses all understanding guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Psalms 79:5

This is a Promise. The verse expresses a plea for God’s anger to subside and his jealousy to cease burning like fire. It does not contain a command for the reader to follow.
