Dear Lord, I claim the promise that you will open my mouth in a parable and utter dark sayings of old. I pray that you will give me the wisdom and discernment to understand and interpret these sayings, and that I may use them to bring glory to your name. May my words be a reflection of your truth and may they inspire and encourage those who hear them. Thank you for your faithfulness and for the gift of your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This is a Promise. The verse is a statement of what the speaker (presumably God) will do, rather than a command to the reader.
