Praying from Matthew 6:16 relating to Hypocrisy, Humility, Reward.

Dear Lord, as I embark on a fast, please help me to not be like the hypocrites who disfigure their faces and seek attention from others. May my fast be solely for you and not for the approval of others. I pray that you would reward me for my obedience and dedication to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: “Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
Matthew 6:16

This is a Command. The verse commands the reader not to fast like the hypocrites who do it for show, but to fast in secret.
