Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that you have given us in Matthew 16:18. I claim this promise today and declare that I am a part of your assembly, built upon the rock of Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. I believe that the gates of Hades will not prevail against your church, and I trust in your power to protect and guide us. Help me to be a faithful member of your assembly, and to always seek your will in all that I do. Thank you for your love and faithfulness, and for the assurance that you are with us always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Verse: I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

This is a Promise. The promise is that the gates of Hades will not prevail against the assembly that Jesus will build on the rock of Peter.
