Dear God, please help us to worship you in truth and spirit, not in vain. May we always seek to follow your commandments and teachings, rather than the traditions and doctrines of men. Guide us to discern what is truly from you and what is not, so that we may honor you with our hearts and actions. Amen.

This is a Command. The verse is warning against teaching human traditions as if they were divine commandments. The command is to avoid doing so and to worship God in truth.
