Prayer based on John 21:18. Themes: Surrender, Aging, Dependence.

Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that you have given us in your word. I claim the promise that when I was young, I dressed myself and walked where I wanted to. But as I grow old, I will stretch out my hands, and you will dress me and carry me where I don’t want to go. I trust in your plan for my life, and I know that you will guide me every step of the way. Help me to surrender my will to yours and to trust in your perfect timing. Thank you for your faithfulness and for the promise of your presence with me always. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Verse: Most certainly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you don’t want to go.”
John 21:18

This is a Promise. The verse is a prophecy about what will happen to the reader when they are old. They will no longer have control over their own movements and will be taken where they do not want to go.
