Prayer based on John 19:24. Themes: Fulfillment, Prophecy, Division

Dear Lord,

As we come before you today, we are reminded of the verse in John 19:24 that says, “Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says,“They parted my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.”

We claim the promise in this verse that you have fulfilled the Scriptures and that you are faithful to your word. We trust that you will continue to fulfill your promises in our lives as well.

Help us to remember that even in the darkest moments, you are still in control and working all things together for our good. May we have faith in your plan and trust in your provision.

Thank you for your love and faithfulness, and for the promise that you will never leave us or forsake us.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

This is a Promise. The soldiers cast lots for Jesus’ clothing to fulfill the Scripture that said they would divide his garments.
