Prayer based on John 1:42. Themes: Identity, Transformation, Calling.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for bringing me to Jesus. I pray that as I come before Him, He will look at me and declare my true identity. Just as He called Simon the son of Jonah, and renamed him Cephas, I claim the promise that He will give me a new name and a new purpose.
I pray that I will live up to the name that Jesus gives me, and that I will fulfill the purpose that He has for my life. May I be a rock for Him, steadfast and unmovable, and may I always be willing to follow wherever He leads.
Thank you for the promise that Jesus will reveal my true identity to me, and that He will give me a new name. I trust in Him and His plan for my life, and I pray that I will always be obedient to His will.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Verse: He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said,“You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” ( which is by interpretation, Peter).
