Praying from James 3:6 relating to Tongue, Iniquity, Fire
Dear Lord, help us to control our tongues and use them for good. We acknowledge that our tongues can be like a fire, causing destruction and harm. We ask for your guidance in using our words to build up and encourage others, rather than tearing them down. May we be mindful of the power of our words and seek to use them wisely. Help us to resist the temptation to speak in ways that defile our bodies and harm those around us. We pray that our tongues would be set on fire by your love and grace, rather than by the flames of Gehenna. Amen.
Verse: And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna.
James 3:6
This is a Command: The verse commands the reader to be cautious of the power of their tongue and to avoid using it for evil, as it can cause destruction and defilement.
