Praying from Matthew 19:18. Themes: Sin, Commandments, Honesty
Dear Lord, as I come before you today, I ask for your guidance and wisdom. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you and in accordance with your commandments. Teach me to love my neighbor as myself and to honor you in all that I do. May I never murder, commit adultery, steal, or offer false testimony. Instead, may I always seek to do what is right and just in your eyes. Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Verse: He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said,“‘ You shall not murder.’ ‘ You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘ You shall not steal.’ ‘ You shall not offer false testimony.’
Matthew 19:18
This is a Command. The verse contains a command to the reader to follow the four commandments listed by Jesus: not to murder, commit adultery, steal, or offer false testimony.
