Prayer based on Proverbs 9:8. Themes: Wisdom, Reproof, Love

Dear God, please give me the wisdom to discern between a scoffer and a wise person. Help me to approach the wise with humility and love, and to reprove them in a way that will be received with gratitude. And when faced with a scoffer, give me the strength to resist the urge to reprove them, knowing that it may only lead to hatred. May I always seek to build up and encourage those around me, and may my words be a reflection of your love and wisdom. Amen.

Verse: Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise person, and he will love you.
Proverbs 9:8

This is a Command. The verse commands the reader not to reprove a scoffer, but to reprove a wise person. The promise is implied: if you reprove a wise person, they will love you.
