Prayer based on Matthew 23:37. Themes: Rejection, Redemption, Love.

Dear Lord,

I come before you today with a heavy heart, knowing that I have often been like Jerusalem, rejecting the prophets and messengers you have sent to me. But I claim the promise that you have offered, to gather your children together like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings.

Lord, I long to be gathered under your protective and loving embrace. I desire to be close to you and to follow your ways. Please help me to overcome my stubbornness and resistance, and to fully surrender to your will.

Thank you for your unfailing love and mercy, and for the promise of salvation that you offer to all who believe in you. May I always trust in your goodness and grace, and may I never stray from your path.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
Matthew 23:37

This is a Promise.

The verse is a statement of Jesus expressing his desire to gather the people of Jerusalem together and protect them like a mother hen protects her chicks. However, the people of Jerusalem have repeatedly rejected the prophets and messengers sent to them, and therefore, they have not received the protection and care that Jesus desires to give them.
