Dear God, please help me to not be like the scribes and Pharisees who only focus on the outward appearance and neglect the inner workings of my heart. May I strive to be pure and righteous both inside and out, and not engage in any form of extortion or unrighteousness. Please guide me to live a life that is pleasing to you and to always seek your will above all else. Amen.

Verse: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.
Matthew 23:25

This is a Command. The verse is a rebuke to the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy in presenting a clean exterior while being corrupt on the inside. There is no direct command or promise given to the reader.
