Praying from Matthew 15:4. Themes: Obedience, Respect, Consequences.
Dear God, we thank you for your commandment to honor our father and mother. Help us to always show them respect and love, and to be grateful for all they have done for us. We pray that you would also protect them from any harm or danger. And for those who speak evil of their parents, we ask for your mercy and forgiveness, and that you would help them to see the error of their ways. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Verse: For God commanded, ‘ Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘ He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’

This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to honor their father and mother and warns against speaking evil of them.
