Prayer based on Mark 7:3. Themes: Tradition, Pharisees, Jews
Dear Lord, we thank you for the traditions and practices that have been passed down to us by our elders. Help us to honor and respect these traditions, but also to understand their true meaning and purpose. May we not become legalistic in our adherence to them, but rather use them as a means to draw closer to you. Help us to remember that it is not what goes into our bodies that defiles us, but what comes out of our hearts. May we always strive to have pure hearts and minds, and to live in a way that honors you. Amen.
Verse: ( For the Pharisees and all the Jews don’t eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.
Mark 7:3
This is a Command. The verse is instructing the reader to wash their hands and forearms before eating, as was the tradition of the elders.
