Dear God, please help me to understand the true meaning of lending and giving. May I not lend to others simply to receive something in return, but instead, may I lend with a pure heart and a desire to help those in need. Help me to be generous and selfless, and to not seek credit or recognition for my actions. May I follow your example of love and compassion, and may my actions reflect your grace and mercy. Amen.
Verse: If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much.
Luke 6:34
This is a Command. The verse commands the reader not to lend to those from whom they hope to receive, as even sinners do that.
