Dear Lord, help me to come to you with a heart that is willing to put you first above all else. Give me the strength to disregard any earthly ties that may hinder my relationship with you. Help me to love my family and friends, but to love you above all else. May I be a true disciple of yours, willing to lay down my own life for your sake. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: “If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.
Luke 14:26

This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to not prioritize their family or their own life over following Jesus if they want to be his disciple.
