Dear Lord, as I come before you today, I claim the promise of your word that says, “So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.” Just as the disciple saw and believed, I pray that you would open my eyes to see and believe in your power and love. Help me to trust in you completely and to have faith that you are always with me, even in the darkest of times. May I never doubt your goodness and may my heart be filled with the joy and peace that comes from knowing you. Thank you for your promise and for your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

This is a Promise. The verse is describing the disciple’s experience of seeing the empty tomb and believing in Jesus’ resurrection. There is no command given to the reader.
