Dear Lord, I claim the promise that you have given us in John 15:21. I know that there will be times when people will do things to me for your name’s sake, but I trust in your promise that you will be with me always. Help me to remember that those who persecute me do not know you, and to respond with love and grace. Thank you for your constant presence and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Verse: But they will do all these things to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.
John 15:21

This is a Promise. The verse is a warning that people will persecute the reader for following Jesus, but it also promises that this persecution is ultimately because the persecutors do not know God.
