Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that all who believe in you will be together and have all things in common. I claim this promise for myself and for my brothers and sisters in Christ. May we be united in our faith and in our love for one another. May we share our resources and blessings with each other, just as the early church did. Help us to be a community that reflects your love and grace to the world around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This is a Promise. The verse is describing the unity and generosity of the early Christian community, but it is not giving a specific command to the reader.
