Praying from 1 Thessalonians 4:16 relating to Second Coming, Resurrection, Judgment

Dear Lord,

I claim the promise that you yourself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. I believe that the dead in Christ will rise first.

I thank you for the assurance that you will come back for us, and that we will be reunited with our loved ones who have gone before us. I pray that I will be ready for your return, and that I will live my life in a way that honors you.

Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you, and to live each day with the knowledge that you are coming back. May I be found faithful when you return, and may I hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Thank you for your love and grace, and for the promise of eternal life with you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
