Dear Lord, I thank you for the promise that every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. I claim this promise for myself and ask for your help in exercising self-control in all areas of my life. I know that the rewards of this world are temporary and corruptible, but the reward you offer is incorruptible and eternal. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you and to strive for the crown that will never fade away. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
