Dear Lord Jesus Christ, please protect us from those who do not serve you but only their own selfish desires. Help us to discern their smooth and flattering speech that deceives the hearts of the innocent. Give us the wisdom to recognize their true intentions and guide us to follow your path of righteousness. May we always serve you with a pure heart and never be led astray by those who seek to deceive us. Amen.

Verse: For those who are such don’t serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the innocent.
Romans 16:18

This is a Command: to not serve one’s own desires and to be aware of those who deceive.
