Dear Lord, I thank you for your promise that you will never let the enemy swallow us up alive. Even when their wrath is kindled against us, you are our shield and protector. I claim this promise today and trust in your unfailing love and faithfulness. Help me to always remember that you are with me, and nothing can separate me from your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This is a Promise. The verse is describing a situation where the enemies of the reader were angry and seeking to harm them, but ultimately did not succeed in destroying them. The promise is that God will protect and deliver the reader from their enemies.
