Prayer based on Matthew 26:75. Themes: Remorse, Betrayal, Forgiveness.
Dear Lord,
I thank you for the promise that you have given me. Just as Peter remembered the word which you had said to him, I too remember the promises that you have made to me. I claim the promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me, and that you will always be with me.
Help me to remember this promise in times of trial and temptation, just as Peter remembered your words before he denied you. Give me the strength to stand firm in my faith, even when it is difficult.
And if I do falter, Lord, I pray that you will be there to pick me up and guide me back onto the right path. Help me to weep bitterly for my mistakes, just as Peter did, and to turn back to you with a repentant heart.
Thank you for your love and grace, and for the promises that you have given me. I trust in you, Lord, and I know that you will always be faithful to your word.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Verse: Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said to him,“Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Then he went out and wept bitterly.
