Dear Lord,

I claim the promise that when I am troubled and afraid, you will speak to me and say, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.” Just as you comforted those who saw you and were troubled, I pray that you will comfort me in my times of distress. Help me to trust in your presence and to find peace in your words. Thank you for always being with me and for never leaving me alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This is a Promise. The promise is that Jesus is with them and they should not be afraid.
