Dear Lord Jesus, I claim the promise that you had compassion on the multitude because they were like sheep without a shepherd. I pray that you would have compassion on me and guide me in the right direction. Teach me many things and help me to follow your ways. Thank you for your love and care for me. Amen.

This is a Promise. The verse describes Jesus having compassion on the crowd and beginning to teach them many things. There is no explicit command given to the reader.
