Prayer based on Mark 6:27. Themes: Persecution, Martyrdom, Power
Dear Lord,
We pray for those who are persecuted for their faith, just as John the Baptist was. We ask for your protection and strength for those who are facing danger and persecution for their beliefs.
We pray for those who are in positions of power, that they may use their authority with wisdom and compassion. May they not be swayed by the opinions of others, but seek to do what is right and just.
We pray for those who are imprisoned for their faith, that they may find comfort and hope in you. May they know that they are not alone, and that you are with them always.
We ask for your mercy and grace for those who commit acts of violence and persecution. May they come to know you and turn away from their wicked ways.
We pray for peace and justice in our world, and for the courage to stand up for what is right, even in the face of opposition.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
