Prayer based on John 1:27. Themes: Humility, Preeminence, Servanthood.
Dear Lord, I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, who is greatly preferred before me. I am in awe of His greatness and humbled by His love for me. I pray that I may always remember that I am not worthy to even loosen His sandal strap. Help me to live a life that honors Him and to follow in His footsteps. I claim the promise that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and I trust in Him completely. Thank you for your grace and mercy, and for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Verse: He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”
John 1:27
This is a Promise. The verse is a statement made by John the Baptist about Jesus, declaring that Jesus is greater than him and that John is not even worthy to perform the lowliest task of untying Jesus’ sandal strap.
