Praying from Romans 13:4. Themes: Authority, Justice, Consequences.
Dear God, we thank you for the servants you have placed in authority over us for our good. We pray that they may always act justly and with wisdom, guided by your hand. Help us to submit to their authority and to follow the laws of the land. We also pray for those who choose to do evil, that they may be convicted of their wrongdoing and turn towards righteousness. May your servants in authority be empowered to bring justice and peace to our communities, and may they be protected as they carry out their duties. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Verse: for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.
Romans 13:4
This is a Command. The reader is commanded to be afraid if they do evil, as the servant of God is an avenger for wrath to those who do evil.
