Dear Lord, I claim the promise that just as the people didn’t know until the flood came and took them all away, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. I pray that I may always be prepared for your return and that I may live a life that is pleasing to you. Help me to be vigilant and watchful, always ready to meet you when you come. Thank you for your promise of eternal life and for the hope that we have in you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Matthew 24:39

This is a Promise. The verse is describing how the coming of the Son of Man will be sudden and unexpected, just like the flood that took people by surprise. There is no command given to the reader.
