Praying from 2 Corinthians 11:9. Themes: Self-sufficiency, Brotherhood, Humility.

Dear Lord,

As I come before you today, I am reminded of the words of the apostle Paul, who said that even when he was in need, he did not burden others. Instead, he relied on the support of his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Lord, I pray that you would help me to follow Paul’s example. Help me to be mindful of the needs of others, and to do my best not to burden them with my own needs and concerns.

At the same time, Lord, I pray that you would provide for me as you provided for Paul. Help me to trust in your provision, and to rely on the support of my brothers and sisters in Christ when I am in need.

Above all, Lord, I pray that you would help me to be a blessing to others, just as Paul was a blessing to the church in Corinth. May I always seek to serve others and to build them up in the faith, for your glory and for the sake of your kingdom.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

Verse: When I was present with you and was in need, I wasn’t a burden on anyone, for the brothers, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my need. In everything I kept myself from being burdensome to you, and I will continue to do so.
2 Corinthians 11:9

This is a Command. The verse commands the reader to avoid being a burden on others and to strive to be self-sufficient.
